Space Systems Command, El Segundo, awarded a $1.8 billion IDIQ on April 9, 2026 — known as Andromeda — to 14 firms to design, build, and field next-generation space-domain awareness and surveillance capabilities. Performance period runs through April 2036. Coverage from GovCon Wire.

Named awardees

Lockheed Martin, Anduril Industries, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, L3Harris Technologies, plus nine additional firms not individually named in early reporting.

Initial delivery order: RG-XX

The first task order funds the Geosynchronous Reconnaissance & Surveillance Constellation (RG-XX) — a next-generation satellite fleet replacing the existing GSSAP (Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program) constellation. RG-XX adds greater on-orbit maneuverability and in-orbit refueling.

Subcontract footprint

  • Optical and RF payload firms: 14 awardees competing on each task order means broad sub demand
  • Refueling/servicing specialists: in-orbit refueling capability is the new wedge — this is a category-creating opportunity
  • SDA / SSA software: ground-segment integration across the Andromeda pool will be a recurring task-order line
