The ROTHR network
Operations control center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Three land-based bistatic Doppler radar sectors (separate transmit and receive sites): Chesapeake/New Kent (Virginia), Freer/Premont (Texas), and Juana Diaz/Vieques (Puerto Rico). The system bounces HF signals off the ionosphere to detect aircraft and small vessels thousands of miles past line-of-sight — primary mission is counter-narcotics surveillance over the Caribbean and Gulf, supporting Joint Interagency Task Force South.
